The keys to creating a productive and compelling home office

Learn about the experience of one of our collaborators and her advice for creating a successful remote working environment

Finding the right work model for you is an important filter for job seekers these days with remote and hybrid work the most coveted.

According to Sodexo’s “Human Resources Trends Study 2023,” seven out of 10 employees prefer working remotely and only 31% choose to work exclusively face-to-face.

Remote work is in our DNA

Home office work has always been in MarketCross’s DNA and has always had a positive impact for our employees.

Francine Cabrera, who has been a member of the MarketCross team for more than six years, attests to this.

Francine started working at MarketCross from a home office in her native Peru, the first time she had ever worked remotely.

When the opportunity arose in 2029 to study in Spain, Francine decided to emigrate to Europe along with her 4-year-old son. She continued to work with MarketCross and only had to readapt her schedule to compensate for the time difference.

“Working from home enables me to achieve a work-life balance, which is especially important for a mom. Now, I can organize my time better, take breaks when I need them, and use that time to organize things around the house. I feel I’m more productive this way”

Francine

For Francine, a flexible time schedule is one of the greatest benefits of working from home: “I had always worked in an office with bosses breathing down my neck, always checking up on me, even during break times. Today, I set my own schedule, and can use the time I would have spent traveling to the office to do other activities instead.”

How to make remote work work for you?

The ability to establish priorities, organize pending tasks and deadlines in your daily schedule, and planning are among the most important tools for ensuring your remote work experience is effective and that you reach your goals on time and on spec.

Francine recommends taking breaks, not eating at your computer, taking walks around the house to ease stress on your back, and ensuring you have the right tools (such as a good chair) as essential when working virtually.

Relationships with co-workers can be challenging when working remotely. Fortunately, technology is a powerful ally for overcoming this obstacle. Group video calls and messaging platforms enable team members to collaborate and keep in constant contact.

Team bonding activities help strengthen ties between employees and enable them to get to know each other outside their work duties.
